Simple  Design and Simplification simple design is one of the most important factors of today in order to survive in a competitive market. Can we really add this feature, which is thought to affect productivity and creativity, to our offices, homes and lives? A full-time employee spends a third of their day in the office. For this reason, the office environment is very important. It is a fact known and accepted by many companies that office setup is of great importance in increasing performance and productivity. Today, business, competition and technology have become so active that they have changed the management and leadership understanding that dominated the past century. We want to be able to use many tools and items that we use on a daily basis without difficulty. This can be a sofa we use at home, a table, small household appliances we use in the kitchen, or a table or chair that we use in our office. We do not want to use any items that are complex and difficult to use. Complexity can intimidate us and affect our productivity. Simplifying the complex has become a part of our lives. This understanding has led us to a simpler, simpler, smarter and at the same time better quality.

Simplexity, the understanding of simplification of complexity, was first brought to the agenda by Jeffret Kluger, a writer and editor of Time magazine. In this understanding, a good design that is free of unnecessary details and simplified is adopted. If you are looking for ways to make a difference in the competitive market and to stand out in the eyes of users, you should develop simple products that look simple but contain many features, are easy to use, and are simple. Or you should make existing products more functional for users with a simple design. The tendency of users to use simplified but healthy and comfortable products is increasing. Simplicity is removing some unnecessary and adding what is meaningful and functional. Simplification and plain design encourages to avoid extra design for a product and to use common parts as much as possible. Every feature of a product that does not benefit the user is waste, avoiding waste simplifies the product.

There are 3 basic principles to be considered for designing lean workspaces and offices;

1- Identify the Need

The needs of employees and customers should be determined and an office design should be made accordingly. Flexible spaces should be established for the needs arising from the customer’s working type. The designed spaces should meet the cognitive, behavioral, physical and social needs of the employees.

2- Focus on the Flow

From the moment the customer’s first order is received, the entire process must be value stream mapped. Activities that do not add value to the process should be identified. Problems with office layout that cause these disruptions should be identified. There may be disconnections due to the use of different offices by the coordinated departments. Considering these problems, the office layout plan should be rearranged.

3- Visuality and Office Layout

Visuality is as important as production in an office environment. Easy-to-understand boards and visuals, where work and performance are shared and access is possible, should be used. Required information should be shared instantly.
