What Are the Types of Wood?

You need to choose and be specific to the species. The most used of these types have been compiled for size as Persona Furniture.

Solid Wood: This type of wood, which is difficult to process due to its very large size, does not contain any weight other than its own weight in terms of mass. Solid wood is a pure wood material obtained by cutting and shaping the tree in the desired shape without undergoing any chemical treatment. It is durable and stylish looking. Natural solid wood is a hard-to-find and very expensive type of wood.

Plywood Wood: It is obtained by gluing wooden boards cut at a certain fineness on top of each other with glue. During the bonding process, the fiber directions of the boards are placed in such a way that they cut each other at an angle of 90 degrees, so that the fibers support each other in all directions, the resistance of the material increases, and its deformation over time is prevented. It is highly resistant to impacts and is often used in drawer construction.

Chipboard Wood: It is formed by compression of chips under high pressure and temperature. This type of wood, which had low water and heat resistance in the past, has become quite durable with today’s developing technology.

MDF Wood: It is made into a board by pressing the wood fibers under chemicals and high heat. It is more resistant to moisture than nu wood chipboard, which can be easily shaped at every point including its edges. It has high screw and nail holding ability, is durable and long lasting. Due to all these features and being suitable for mass production, it is the most used wood type in furniture production.

Laminated Wood: It is obtained by gluing and combining individual wooden pieces of different sizes under controlled industrial conditions and with special binders. Its difference from natural veneered wood is that it is made of PVC on MDF and chipboard. Laminated wood is often used in parquet production.

Plywood: It consists of wooden boards that are glued on top of each other like plywood. Unlike plywood, instead of boards of equal thickness, it consists of a thick layer in the middle and thin boards glued on both sides. This prevents it from cracking over time. It is moisture resistant.
